Our Mission

Parents Against Cancer is Dedicated to Finding a Cure for childhood cancer. We began our mission in 1997 and for the past seven years we have funded an experimental drug for brain tumors in young children. Through our partnership and our financial support with Texas Children's Cancer Center, we have been able to assist Texas Children's researchers in their development and testing of such ground-breaking drugs.

The money generously donated to the Texas Children's Cancer Center has been used to support preclinical and clinical research efforts of a promising new anticancer drug, karenitecin. The first clinical trial of karenitecin in children is nearing completion and future trials will evaluate the efficacy of karenitecin against specific childhood cancers. In addition, the support from Parents Against Cancer has been used by Texas Children's Cancer Center researchers to initiate the preclinical and clinical evaluation of other promising new treatment strategies for the treatment of children with cancer.

OUR HISTORY

Parents Against Cancer was founded by a group of Montgomery County Texas parents, many of whom have had the heartache of being told their child has cancer. Parents Against Cancer is a volunteer, non profit, registered charity committed to finding a cure for pediatric cancer. There is no paid staff or national organization affiliation. All funds raised by Parents Against Cancer directly support the research efforts being conducted at Texas Children's Cancer Center in Houston, Texas. This research includes molecular oncology, tumor cell biology, cancer genetics, pharmacology, experimental therapeutics and transplantation biology.
