Sarah Hutton

I often ask myself, " What will my future be like? In some ways, I wish I could know. But in other ways, I know it will be marvelous to watch the mystery unfold.
One thing I plan to work very hard for is to be a good baby-sitter, for I do really hope that the kids will like me. It would be great if I was their favorite baby-sitter. Therefore, I plan to work very hard to make this dream come true.
Another hope and dream I have is this; I want to be the best mother for my kids. I can see me now, in the kitchen making cookies with my kids. My parents would be so proud of me when my kids tell them they have the best mother ever! They will say to me, "We know that you have been the best ever to them!" And then I'll know that I have to accomplished my dream.
Three is always a lucky number, and so I save my most important dream for last. I truly hope and pray that I can find a cure for cancer. This is my most cherished dream. I would like to find medicine that will save people who have cancer. I would like to make people feel good when they know they could die.
It is true; "We are the stuff our dreams are made of." By my dreams, you know me. Wish me well, my family. I begin my future now.
Sarah was diagnosed at age 2 with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. She is 14 years old today and cancer free. Sarah wrote this poem for her fourth grade graduation. Please help her see this dream come true.
